Post Season Swimming Begins August 15 Bever, Cherry Hill and Noelridge pools will be open for post season swimming from Saturday, August 15, to Monday, September 7. Jones pool will close on August 14. Bender pool schedule changes August 14. READ MORE>>

Bus Fares to Increase on August 24 Cedar Rapids Transit will increase adult cash fares from $1.00 to $1.25. Student and elderly fares will remain the same. 31-Day and 10-Ride Passes will raise for all passenger categories. READ MORE>>

City Conducts Citizen Satisfaction Phone Survey Over the last two-and-a-half weeks, the City has conducted a citizen satisfaction phone survey with assistance from Opinion Research Corporation (ORC) of Seattle, WA. Survey results will be presented to the City Council in early September. READ MORE>>

Community Submits 17 Projects for I-JOBS Funding Last week, the City of Cedar Rapids, Linn County and five local non-profit organizations submitted 17 projects for funding through the I-JOBS program. Together, the community is requesting $78.8 million from the competitive grant portion of the program. READ MORE>>

Jones Baseball Diamond Project Receives Funding The Cedar Rapids Parks and Recreation Department recently received a $75,000 grant from the Baseball Tomorrow Fund to build new diamonds and improve others in Jones Park. READ MORE>>

Staff Researching Design Principles for Entire City The City Council asked for them before the flood. Residents asked for them in the Neighborhood Planning Process. City staff is hosting focus groups and gathering research to create design principles for future development. READ MORE>>

Urban Deer Hunt Begins September 12 The Cedar Rapids Fire Department is issuing bow hunting permits for the next urban deer hunt season. The season lasts from September 12, 2009 to July 31, 2010. There's a four step process to receive the permit. READ MORE>>

Register for Special Olympics Volleyball by August 14 The Cedar Rapids Parks and Recreation Department is accepting registrations through August 14 for ages 8 years and up. This free program meets Wednesdays, August 19 through October 7 from 7:15-8:30 p.m. at Jefferson High School. READ MORE>>
