City Removing Ash Trees The Emerald Ash Bore is decimating ash trees across the country. About 25% or 10,000 public right of way trees in Cedar Rapids are ash trees. The City is removing the trees that are most distressed, in decline and have lost canopy. Property owners are sent a letter before removal in their neighborhoods. To date, 150 trees have been removed and will be replanted.
