  Ash Tree

City Removing Ash Trees
The Emerald Ash Bore is decimating ash trees across the country. About 25% or 10,000 public right of way trees in Cedar Rapids are ash trees. The City is removing the trees that are most distressed, in decline and have lost canopy. Property owners are sent a letter before removal in their neighborhoods. To date, 150 trees have been removed and will be replanted.

City Removing Hazardous Materials
The City will be demolishing about 1,200 flood-damaged properties this year. To do that, each property must be inspected and hazardous materials must be removed. City contractors are marking each property as they assess and clean each structure.

An estimated 1,300 significantly flood-damaged properties are eligible for a buyout through this process. A new web page explains how to register, the buyout timeline, how to appeal a purchase offer and more.
